At the same time, the EU is shaping a dense regulatory framework that does not always support the freedom and flexibility wanted for companies to develop and compete globally.
The European know-how industries, and particularly our pumps, compressors, taps and valves sectors, have for a very long time thought of the enhancement of their world competitiveness throughout the challenges of societal and environmental challenges, notably by contributing to the preparation of vitality efficiency and ecolabel laws. In parallel, digitalisation has provided increased opportunities and brought new challenges, including debates on the appropriate regulatory stage (sharing of industrial data, synthetic intelligence, cybersecurity, etc).

In our specific area, that relates, after all, to the manufacture, distribution and use of pumps and all pump associated tools – an enormous and important subset of business, given the width and breadth of pump functions.
Against this backdrop, one of the major issues when figuring out the core themes for the joint convention was to take care of a direct reference to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Within this focus, the three associations intend to spotlight how, together with the importance for companies to handle technical elements impacting their daily enterprise operations, they contemplate the positive position of industry in addressing societal challenges. Indeed, all the classes could have a technical theme matching probably the most applicable UN SDG, and with illustration from the European Commission together with technical consultants from business and/or research institutes, they’ll each be reflective of the current legislative terrain, because it pertains to pumps and pumping techniques within the following key areas:
Circular Economy & Eco-design (Relevant UN Sustainable Development Goal no. 12: Responsible Consumption and Production)
